A chocolate advent calendar is an easy thing to get wrong. Twenty-four identical discs of something waxy, and by the eighth of December nobody in the house is bothering. Fortnum’s Favourites Truffle Advent Calendar goes the other way: twenty-five doors, twenty-five proper truffles, and one flavour made for this box and sold nowhere else.
£40. Twenty-five doors, twenty-five truffles, 270g. In stock now.
The numbers
The Favourites Truffle Advent Calendar is £40 for 270g — twenty-five truffles behind twenty-five doors, six flavours between them, with Fortnum’s publishing how many of each you get. It is in stock now with no delivery date restriction, which is not true of every Fortnum’s calendar this season.
One flavour is exclusive to the box — a Milk Chocolate Clementine Truffle, and the most generously represented of the six at five pieces. There is alcohol in here too: the Dark Marc de Champagne truffle is made with exactly what it says. Allergens are milk, soya and hazelnuts, and Fortnum’s notes it is produced in an environment handling other tree nuts, wheat and barley.

Does it pique our interest?
The clementine is the draw. Milk chocolate and citrus is well-trodden ground and Fortnum’s is very good at it, and a clementine made only for this box is precisely the sort of small seasonal indulgence the shop does better than most. Five of the twenty-five doors are that truffle, so it is no token gesture tucked behind the twenty-fourth.
The rest comes from the Favourites collection and is properly varied for a one-category box: salted caramel, raspberry, sea salt gianduja, vanilla and the dark Marc de Champagne. Fruit, caramel, nut and champagne across a month is more range than a chocolate calendar at this scale usually manages. The gianduja is the one we would go back for after the clementine.
What we’d change
Six flavours across twenty-five doors means everything repeats four or five times over, so by the third week you will know what is coming. And five of the six are milk chocolate — the Marc de Champagne is the only dark truffle in the box, so anyone who reaches for dark first will find it a sweeter month than they might have picked.

Who it’s perfect for
The milk chocolate lover, first and foremost, and anyone who would rather have twenty-five good truffles than twenty-five novelty shapes. It is a generous thing to bring to someone else’s house in early December and leave on the side to be shared, which is more or less how Fortnum’s frames it.
Our Pique Verdict
Perfect for: the milk chocolate lover who wants proper truffles, not moulded shapes
Best product: Milk Chocolate Clementine Truffle, exclusive to this calendar
Biggest drawback: six flavours across twenty-five doors, so every one repeats
Value for money: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
