Does it pique our interest?
Very much, and mostly because of how the sizes change the experience. In a lot of calendars you meet a product; in this one you get to live with a few of them. The 250ml Almond Shower Oil will see you well into the new year, and the 75ml Shea Butter Hand Cream is the proper tube, the one that sits by the sink and gets used every day. Next to them are 75ml bottles of Intensive Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, a 75ml Shea Ultra Rich Body Cream and a 75ml Almond Smoothing Milk Concentrate, which is L’Occitane’s rich, firming body cream and one of our favourite things in the box.
The almond story runs deeper here too. As well as the shower oil and the milk concentrate, there’s a 40ml Almond Supple Skin Oil, a light dry oil that L’Occitane says leaves skin glowing from the first use. Together they make a complete almond ritual, from shower to body oil to cream, and that’s a lovely thing to build up across December.
Shea is the other pillar. Alongside the big hand cream there’s the Ultra Rich Body Cream, a Hydrating Shower Cream, a Rich Shea Butter Body Scrub, a Foot Cream and the Ultra Rich Lip Balm, which is exactly the thing you want in your coat pocket in the cold. Néroli & Orchidée arrives as a matching shower gel and body milk, a pretty, floral pairing, and cherry blossom comes as a hand cream and a hand soap.
We also love the finishing touches. A small Verveine Eau de Toilette brings a zesty, lemony note of summer into December, and the Serenity Cocoon Pillow Mist is made for the end of a long day. The Immortelle trio (the Precious Cleansing Oil, the Divine Foaming Cleansing Cream and the Divine Cream) gives you a small, complete cleanse-and-moisturise taster of L’Occitane’s anti-ageing line, with the Immortelle Divine Pro-Youth Body Butter to take it below the neck.
What we’d change
We’d love one more Immortelle face product. The line is L’Occitane’s skincare star, and with three face products in the box, a serum or eye treatment would make the face side feel as generous as the body side.
We’d also like the full sizes named. L’Occitane tells us there are full-size products inside, and a clear list would make the Prestige an even easier gift to buy.
And a small wish for the Verveine Eau de Toilette: a size on the product page. It’s the one fragrance in the calendar, and we’d love to know how much of it is behind the door.
