There is a particular kind of December morning this one is built for. The kettle on, the house still quiet, and something small and gold waiting to be opened before anybody else is up. Harrods has filled its Food Halls Advent Calendar with the things the Knightsbridge food halls are actually known for — cake and pudding, fudge and gianduja, honey and chutney, truffle dust and sea salt — and put 25 of them behind the facade of the building itself.
The Harrods Food Halls Advent Calendar 2026 is not a chocolate countdown. Chocolate is in there, and generously, but so is a bottle of extra virgin olive oil, a tin of Ile de Ré Sea Salt and a 20cl bottle of champagne. This is a larder, handed over one piece at a time across December, and it asks to be judged as one.

The numbers
Harrods lists 25 items and sells the calendar at £300. It is on pre-order rather than in stock. Harrods publishes no stated worth for the contents, so we have not put one on them either. It is an 18+ purchase, because a 20cl bottle of Harrods Non-Vintage Champagne is among the 25.
UK delivery is free at this price — standard arrives in two to four business days, with next day at £12 — and Harrods says everything inside has been selected to stay fresh well beyond December, so buying in September does not mean eating in a hurry. Two conditions are worth reading before you press the button. Hampers are non-returnable and non-refundable. And if an item runs short, Harrods reserves the right to send a carefully chosen alternative in its place, which means the list below is the intention rather than a guarantee.
Does it pique our interest?
It does, and mostly because of how much of it is meant for the kitchen rather than the sofa. The Signature Truffle Dust and the Australian Truffle Caramelised Balsamic Vinegar are the two we would reach for first and keep reaching for — a spoonful of one over scrambled eggs on the 27th, a few drops of the other over whatever is left of the cheese. Neither is a novelty. Both change what you cook that week.
Around them sits a properly stocked shelf. Extra virgin olive oil, Ile de Ré Sea Salt, ground organic Ceylon cinnamon, Gold Leaf Honey, Boxing Day Chutney, Christmas Marmalade and Winterberry Jam — the sort of things that quietly get used up rather than admired. The Mini Christmas Cake and the Ultimate Christmas Pudding are real table items rather than miniatures of the idea, and the brandy butter arrives to meet them. Christmas spiced coffee, spiced loose leaf tea and a single-origin milk hot chocolate cover every hour you might want a cup of something.
And then there is the bone china Henry Bear Mug, the only thing in the box you will still have next December. We like that it is there — a calendar eaten entirely leaves nothing behind, and the bear is a small, slightly silly anchor. Very Harrods, and all the better for it.
What we’d change

Our reservations are about rhythm rather than anything on the list. The larder logic that makes this box so useful in January works against it in December. Opening a bottle of olive oil or a tin of sea salt on a dark Tuesday morning is genuinely handy, but it is not a treat, and a calendar lives or dies on the small daily lift. A handful of these 25 will be put straight into a cupboard and forgotten until they are needed.
The sweet side also leans hard in one direction. Cocoa-dusted almonds, a fudge slider selection, a chocolate gold coin, golden gianduja, a Chocolaterie bar, a mixed chocolate selection box and a mini milk chocolate gold bar is a lot of chocolate in a row, and in a food hall this broad we would have liked one of them traded for something savoury with a bit of crunch — a biscuit for cheese, a jar of something salted.
The substitution clause deserves a mention too. It is entirely reasonable on Harrods’ part and it is stated plainly, but it does mean that if you are buying this for one particular item, you are buying on trust.

Who it’s perfect for
The person who cooks. Not necessarily the person who throws the party — the one who is still in the kitchen at eleven, working out what to do with the rest of the ham. This calendar rewards them in a way a beauty calendar never could, because almost everything in it is a small upgrade to something they already do every day. It also suits anyone buying for a household rather than a person: a box that ends up on the table and the shelf, shared out, rather than kept on one dressing table.
It is a gift that behaves well, too: long dates, free delivery, and nothing that has to be eaten by the 26th.
Our Pique Verdict
Perfect for: Someone who cooks, and would rather stock the shelf than eat a chocolate a day.
Best product: Harrods Signature Truffle Dust, 45g.
Biggest drawback: Several of the 25 are storecupboard staples that will feel useful rather than festive on the morning they are opened.
Value for money: ★★★★☆ (4/5)
