The John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2026 is the biggest the retailer has ever put out: 41 products across 25 drawers, £250, and a stated value of £1,160. It is also the first year John Lewis has put beauty tech in the box, and that one decision changes how the whole calendar reads. We have been through the full contents list, drawer by drawer, to work out who this one is actually for.
Does it pique our interest?
Short answer: yes, if what you want is volume and names you already trust.
Forty-one products across 25 drawers makes this one of the most generous calendars of the season by sheer count — several drawers hold more than one thing, which is where the extra sixteen come from. At £250 that works out at roughly £6.10 a product, which is a lot of parcels for the money.
The brand list is the other draw. Clarins, Charlotte Tilbury, Fenty Beauty, Medik8, La Mer, ELEMIS, Sisley and Shiseido are all in here, alongside newer names like Skin Rocks and Sculpted by Aimee. Nothing in the line-up asks you to take a leap of faith on a brand you have never heard of. That sounds like a small thing, but it is exactly what most people want from a calendar they are buying as a gift rather than for themselves.
Then there is the FOREO. A UFO 3 mini at £129 RRP is the single most valuable thing in the box and the first piece of beauty tech John Lewis has included in this calendar. It is a genuinely different object to find behind a door — not another serum — and on its own it accounts for more than a tenth of the stated value.
John Lewis has also hidden golden tickets in a number of calendars this year, with prizes for whoever finds one. It does not change whether the calendar is worth £250, but it is a nice piece of theatre, and it is the kind of thing that sells out a waitlist.
Pique Picks: what we’re most excited about
FOREO UFO 3 mini (full-size device, RRP £129) — our Pique Pick of the calendar, and not a close contest. A £129 device inside a £250 box is unusual enough on its own; the fact that it is the thing you are least likely to have bought yourself is what makes it interesting. It is also the product that will still be in use next December.
Neal’s Yard Remedies Frankincense Intense Age-Defying Cream (50ml, RRP £77) — listed as a deluxe miniature, but 50ml of a £77 cream is a serious amount of product by advent-calendar standards. If you have been curious about Neal’s Yard without wanting to commit, this is a proper trial rather than a teaspoon.
Clinique All About Eyes Brightening Serum Concentrate (full-size, 10ml, RRP £46) — a full-size eye product is always a good sign in a calendar, and this one has the cooling metal applicator that makes people repurchase it. Reliable rather than exciting, which is rather the point of it.
Benefit Juice Blush Stick in Figgie (full-size, 8ml, RRP ~£28) — the makeup section is the smallest part of this calendar at seven products, so it matters that the one cream blush in it is a good shade in a format that suits most people. Figgie is a berry that works on more skin tones than it looks like it will.
What we’d change
Fewer surprises than the price suggests. These are good brands, but they are largely brands you could have named before opening the box. That is a deliberate choice rather than an oversight — familiarity is the appeal for a lot of people, particularly when buying a gift. But if discovery is what you want from December, the Liberty calendar is built around exactly that.
It is a skincare calendar wearing a beauty calendar’s clothes. Twenty of the 41 products are skincare — almost half the edit. Makeup gets seven, bodycare six, haircare three, fragrance three and tools two. If you were hoping for a broad spread across categories, this is not that.
One device is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Take the FOREO out and the calendar immediately reads as more conventional, and the stated value drops by £129 to just over £1,000. That is still four times the price, but it is worth being honest that a single item is carrying an outsized share of both the value and the interest.
The numbers
£250 for 41 products across 25 drawers, which John Lewis values at £1,160. Twenty-three are full-size and 18 are deluxe miniatures. Adding up the individual RRPs ourselves gets us to roughly £1,174, which is close enough to the published figure to treat it as sound — that is our own working, not a number John Lewis publishes, so take it as corroboration rather than gospel.
On timing: MyJL Beauty members had first access to pre-order from 3 August, pre-orders ship from 3 September, and it goes on general sale on 7 September. John Lewis is also launching a separate 12-day fragrance calendar at £99, worth £305, available to members from 21 September.

Who it’s perfect for
Skincare lovers who want plenty to open. That is the honest summary. If your idea of a good December is a new serum, cream or mask most mornings, from brands with a track record, this one delivers.
It is a strong gift, too — arguably the strongest here. Recognisable brands, a lot of parcels, and a headline device make it easy to buy for someone whose taste you only half know. It is a weaker fit if you want fragrance (three miniatures), if you want a makeup-led calendar (seven products), or if you are specifically shopping for brands you have never tried.
Our Pique verdict

Does the John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2026 pique our interest? It does — on volume and on nerve. Putting a £129 device in a £250 calendar is a real decision rather than a padded contents list, and the sheer count means the daily ritual actually delivers. Go in wanting skincare and you will be very happy. Go in wanting to discover something you have never heard of, and Liberty is the one to look at. If you would rather keep the price down, the Selfridges calendar is worth a look, and the Debenhams edit is one of the better-value options this year.

FAQ
Is the John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2026 worth it?
On the numbers, yes. £250 for 41 products John Lewis values at £1,160 is 4.6 times the price, which works out at about £6.10 a product. Whether it is worth it to you depends on whether you want skincare — almost half the calendar is.
How much is it, and when can I buy it?
£250. MyJL Beauty members had first access to pre-order from 3 August, pre-orders ship from 3 September, and it goes on general sale on 7 September.
What’s inside the John Lewis Beauty Advent Calendar 2026?
41 products across 25 drawers — 23 full-size and 18 deluxe miniatures. Skincare 20, makeup 7, bodycare 6, haircare 3, fragrance 3 and two tools, including a FOREO UFO 3 mini. Full list above.
What are the golden tickets?
John Lewis has hidden golden tickets inside a number of calendars this year, with prizes for whoever finds them. They are not in every box, and finding one is luck rather than something you can shop for.
How does it compare with the other calendars this season?
They are built for different people rather than ranked against each other. John Lewis is the one to choose if you want plenty to open from names you already know. Harrods leans luxury skincare. Liberty is the one for discovering brands you have not tried. Boots 12 Days of Scent is the one for fragrance at well under £100.
