Niche perfume can feel like a members’ club: beautiful bottles behind glass, houses you’ve only half heard of, and full sizes that ask a lot of a first meeting. The Selfridges Fragrance Edit Volume 2 opens the door a little wider. Six niche perfumes arrive together in one box, each in a slim travel spray, chosen by Selfridges’ own experts from houses that rarely share a shelf.
It’s £55, Selfridges puts the worth at £227.50, and it’s exclusive to Selfridges. The line-up runs from Ex Nihilo’s Blue Talisman and Bond No. 9’s Lafayette Street to Escentric 01 from Escentric Molecules, with Birkholz, Mizensir and Fragrance du Bois making up the six. Selfridges describes it as a mix of unisex icons and niche scents, which makes it an easy set to share.
The box is a soft cornflower blue edged in sunshine yellow, and the six sprays stand in a neat row inside, so it can be handed over just as it is.

The numbers
The Fragrance Edit Volume 2 is £55, and Selfridges says the contents are worth £227.50. There are six fragrances from six houses: Fragrance du Bois, Bond No. 9, Escentric Molecules, Birkholz, Ex Nihilo and Mizensir. Five are eaux de parfum and one, Escentric 01, is an eau de toilette. The sprays run from 7.5ml to 10ml, and Selfridges doesn’t make a full-size claim for the set. It’s labelled a limited edition, it’s on sale now online at Selfridges, and, like most fragrance sets, it can’t be exchanged or refunded for hygiene reasons unless it arrives faulty.
What piques our interest
Ex Nihilo’s Blue Talisman is the one we’d spray first. Ex Nihilo describes it as a lucky charm for the skin, inspired by the Place Vendôme, and it opens on juicy pear, bergamot, ginger and mandarin before orange blossom softens it and a clean, woody musk carries it on. It’s bright without being sharp, the kind of scent that suits a crisp white shirt and a good mood.
Escentric 01 is the quiet one, and that’s its charm. Escentric Molecules builds it around Iso E Super, a soft, woody molecule that sits close to the skin, lifting it with lime and pink pepper and grounding it with incense and musk. The house calls it addictive, and in a small spray it’s an easy one to live with for a week and see.
Then there’s the warmth. Mizensir’s Ambre Magique, by the perfumer Alberto Morillas, wraps mandarin and orange blossom around cardamom and rose, then settles into vanilla, benzoin and sandalwood: amber made luminous rather than heavy. Bond No. 9’s Lafayette Street, named for the street near the house’s downtown New York home, pairs bergamot and coriander with apple, vanilla and tonka for a smooth fougère with a sweet edge.
Birkholz’s Portraits of Portofino brings the summer back: lemon, mandarin and bergamot over magnolia and jasmine, with a soft, musky base that Birkholz ties to the harbour it’s named after. Fragrance du Bois’s Lucius completes the six with bergamot, mandarin and pink pepper over cedarwood, tonka and vetiver, a fresh, woody scent the house pitches as bold.
What we like most is the range. Citrus, woods, amber and musk all have their turn, so this niche perfume discovery set works as a proper tour of six very different moods, and every spray is small enough to live in a handbag while you decide which one you can’t do without.

What we’d change
We’d have loved one scent in a larger size. Six small sprays are a lovely way to meet these houses, but a single bigger bottle of the standout would have given the box a centrepiece to keep.
We’d also have welcomed one deeper, darker scent for winter. The line-up leans fresh and luminous, with Ambre Magique the warmest of the six, so anyone drawn to smoke, leather or oud may find it a touch light for December.

Who it’s perfect for
This is for the fragrance lover who’s ready to wander beyond the scents everyone already knows, but would rather try before committing to a full bottle. It suits someone hunting for a new signature, anyone curious about Ex Nihilo or Escentric Molecules, and couples or housemates who like to borrow each other’s perfume, since Selfridges pitches the whole edit as unisex. As a Selfridges perfume gift set, it’s a thoughtful choice for someone whose taste in scent you only half know: six small sprays leave plenty of room to find a favourite, and a fragrance discovery set like this is easy to tuck into a weekend bag.
It’s less suited to someone who wants make-up and skincare in the mix (the Selfridges Dream Bundle 2026 covers both, with three fragrances besides), or to anyone after a pared-back skincare routine, which is where the Selfridges Longevity Skincare Kit 2026 comes in.

The Selfridges Fragrance Edit Volume 2 is £55, and Selfridges puts the worth of the contents at £227.50. It’s exclusive to Selfridges.
Is the Selfridges Fragrance Edit Volume 2 worth it?
If you’d like to explore niche perfume without committing to a full bottle, we think so. You get six houses and six very different moods, from Portofino citrus to Ambre Magique’s glowing amber, each in a spray you can carry for a week. It’s less of a fit if you only want one scent in a big bottle.
